Salvatore Ferragamo: The Amazing ShoemakerThe Museo Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence is celebrating the famous shoemaker himself in their temporary exhibition, The Amazing Shoemaker: Fairy Tales About Shoes and Shoemakers.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the exhibition, you are in luck as it has been extended through May 18, 2014. Be prepared to enter the fantasy world and contemporary interpretations of what made Ferragamo’s designs so saught after.

The exhibition combines items for the historical Ferragamo archives with work by contemporary artists. There is an area devoted to the sculptures and drawings of Mimmo Paladino and his playfully animated representation of the imaginative fantasy fairy tale vision created by Ferragamo.

Several other contemporary artists in sculpture, literature, poetry, cinema, music, photography, and other diciplines have contributed to tell the story about the shoe designer of the stars. Together with Palladino, work by visual artists include: Daniel Spoerri, Liliana Moro, Ann Craven, Annette Lemieux, Carol Rama, Liu Jianhua, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, and Jan Švankmajer.
