Dejan Atanackovic, SACI professor and international multimedia artist, recently toured around the US making appearances for lectures at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Princeton International School of Math and Science. Along with Alkan Nallbani (PRISMS), Kirsten Leenaars and James Elniski (SAIC), he spoke about his projects Body Archives, Another Gaze, German Lessons.

At Arts @ Large, he spoke to young students about his work and experience as a teaching artist. Arts @ Large is an innovative program that provides multidisciplinary arts experiences for youth throughout Wisconsin. Created in 2001, Arts @ Large provides sustainable art programming for students and teachers in public schools and highlights the essential role that the arts play in creating an inclusive atmosphere of classroom learning.

Atanackovic’s work includes diverse media and methods: writing, video, music, installations, interventions in public space, as well as curatorial projects. He has held personal and collective exhibitions in Italy, Serbia, Canada, USA, Slovenia, Bosnia, Albania, Germany, and Mexico.
His teaching experience includes:
  • Programs of exchange in art education between Italy (Florence and Siena) and Belgrade
  • Multiple university art courses in Florence and Siena
  • Creation of the “Body Archives” course at Studio Art Centers International (SACI) as a platform for research and collaboration with the Florentine scientific museum collections.
