David Tremlett: Roll On and Other Work

Galerie Jean Brolly – Paris

Work by artist David Tremlett was recently shown in a solo exhibition “Roll On and Other Work” at the Galerie Jean Brolly in Paris (16 Rue de Montmorency) through February 11, 2017.

Tremlett presented a large tapestry titled “Form and Rhythm” together in a dialogue with a set of new pastels on paper, some of which have some similarities with the latter, others have been inspired by a recent trip to Vietnam.

David Tremlett is above all a nomadic artist who feeds on the cultures of the world. Early on, he traveled through India, Africa, Australia, South America, and with pencil in hand, he recorded in a notebook his impressions and his discoveries of voyages: the undulations of nature, the forms of architecture, names of places, traces of a human presence… just a few insignificant notes stored in a corner of his memory, as a substrate for works to come.

David Tremlett (b. 1945) lives and works in London.
