Sculptures by OLIVIERO DRAGHI: Guerrieri, Heads, ANIMALi

July 3 – 28, 2017

Opening: Monday, July 3 at 6pm

The roots of Guerrieri stem back to childhood play with toy soldiers. Fantasies, legends, and stories have been the inspirations in creating these figures, which are cast in bronze and then placed in various scenes and environments. On exhibit are some of the pieces from the collection Guerrieri-Ombre.

Heads took form from wanting to give a practical function to random fragments from a mold of a full-figure sculptures of a mother and daughter. They then developed through playing with and discovering various expressions and grimaces in the company of daughter, Delia, and translated into polychrome plaster.

ANIMAli is based on the idea of an animal as spiritual guide, an expression of the soul (the Latin anima). These are polychrome plaster sculptures that offer a correspondence between the person and the animal.
